Before Christmas holidays I noticed that we are getting fat day by day. Having that extra belly was always making me stressful and unsatisfied and I knew I will have to go on a diet.

We talked one day and I told him that we shouldn’t just go with a flow and eat whenever there is an opportunity. He knew that he is getting fat and he agreed of changing our eating habits.

The Solution Came Out Of Nowhere

About a month before, his sister came to a visit and she told us about fasting. She fasts every Thursday. I didn’t asked her details because this idea of “starving” myself was ridiculous to me.  I thought ”Why should I torture myself with fasting”? These were my first thoughts on this topic.

I must inform you that I am a health conscious individual and always  try to learn more about healthy meals, exercise, growing plants, gathering herbs and tea, etc.  It is my passion and I feel great when practicing it.

So this was a sign we should try it. One day my boyfriend was surfing on the internet and came to a website that was presenting an interesting book about fasting. He showed me the sales letter and after conversation we decided that this might be it so we bought the book.

Why all Diets Fail You?

Before I go and explain how our fasting journey goes and how affects us; I feel obligated to tell you my opinion about the reason why people fail with diets.

I think that the main reason for people’s disappointment with diets is not having mental strength. Today it is very hard to follow some diet. Food companies, TV commercials and other influence on us every single day like “taste those delicious caramel biscuits”!

I remember one commercial that addresses people in the morning, fast food commercialwho are in the hurry and don’t have time to make their breakfast. They are selling biscuits from whole wheat as heathier alternative. But I think nobody thought of how many unhealthy oils and sugar it may contain.

We love to eat right? It makes us satisfied, happy and peaceful. It is hard to have a successful diet when such a variety of food is available out there. But I tell you this, if we see that our body needs changes, we must go out of the comfort zone, this is crucial.

I don’t know a person who didn’t struggle and work hard to achieve his goal. If you want changes in your life you should think out of the box and take action. It may be hard on the beginning but with some practice you will train your mind to achieve mental strength that is main factor for succeeding.

Ok, now it’s time for me to tell you all about 24 hour fasting that we are having. Now we are in sixth week of practicing 24 hour fast, twice a week. We chose Monday and Thursday for fasting.

At first we had a rough time not think of…

…food, you guessed right. But what type of fast do we have? On fasting day we don’t eat anything, not even an apple. This is how fasting should be done regarding the book we bought. You can drink unsweetened tea and soda, water is a good option too. It is even recommended that you drink a lot because it will help your body system to detoxify faster.

What Is The Best Thing To Do When Fasting?

Don’t know which day you will fast? Many people think that the best time for fast is weekend because they are not working. My boyfriend ad I work at home so we fast on our working days. First time it was tough, I thought that I won’t be able to finish my work and I questioned the quality of work also.

It took a little more time to finish it but I did it and the quality was also there. My recommendation to you is – occupy yourself as much as you can when fasting.  You will forget that you are fasting if you will occupy your brain thinking of a specific activity, not food.

So make a plan what will you do on the fasting day. I am sure you have some house work, hobbies that you can enjoy, play with kids and pets, prepare for your presentation that will happen in a few days, etc. All is mental, so occupy your brain and do something that you will benefit.

What Can You Expect?

fasting changes thingsIf you will decide to do this 24 hour fast; you should expect some changes. It was hard for us to fast the first week. All that we think about is food. The stomach told the brain that we are hungry and should eat. Our bodies are used to eat every few hours so if we exceed the time of non-eating, the body reminds us.

Habits are a big part of our lives and it is the same with eating. If you accustom your body on fasting, eventually you will not have problems with hunger anymore. It comes easier and easier each week.

These are the symptoms that you can experience on fasting day

  • Irritability
  • Belching
  • Smelly sweat

  • Insomnia, etc.

Remember that these symptoms can vary from person to person. The good thing is that some of the symptoms lose their power over time. For example, in the first week I had headaches and strong stomach cramps. In second week my headaches stopped and stomach cramps subsided.

You wonder why it happen? It happened because my body accepted the change and adapted to the change. Human body is a miracle, now I can say this for sure.

  • Be active (walking, swimming, etc.)
  • Have a plan of activities
  • Meditate
  • Avoid stressful situations
  • Listen to music, etc.

Is Fasting Going To Help You?

You shouldn’t think about does eat stop eat works or not, try it. Think about what you just read. Fasting for 24 hours isn’t that hard and it is beneficial for your body to detox. You can also lose weight, have anti-aging treatments every weak, get rid of deep wrinkles, have more energy and feel great.

Remember, with time fasting becomes easier and symptoms like stomach cramps almost disappear.  I must stress out that it is proven that fasting repairs body cells too, isn’t this amazing? Maybe this is the reason why some people say that fasting is good for cancer patients.
